Tywyn to Aberdyfi

‘Notty’ is joining us today as planned over a 4.2 mile walk between the above. The forecast is reasonable and we depart leisurely at 09:15 Hrs to get the cars in place.

We start at Tywyn walking off it’s promenade onto sand dunes heading South.

Atop the sand dunes

Walking on the sand dunes we proceed for a half mile or so and come across a collection of ‘painted’ pebbles with various messages on them. It is also apparent at this time that the path we are on is be-riddled with deep holes which make good ankle twisting territory.

Message/Rembrance Pebbles

To avoid mishaps we descend the pebbles to our right onto the flat, broad sands and are heading into very strong winds. The wind blown sands feels like we are drifting backwards.

I am staitionary !!
‘Notty’ taking in the view before our descent onto the beach.

The beach is long and broad. The tide is out. We move steadily south into the wind.

Its now a case of heads down and enjoying the ‘wild’ beach and white crested wave tops.

Some way along the beach probably a mile or so from Aberdyfi I note the dunes are increasing in height. I am unsure of our ‘escape plan’.

I suggest we divert off beach because I’m not sure we’ll get another opportunity. Little did I know until we arrived that we could have stayed on for the whole walk.

We find ourselves on Aberdyfi golf course ‘avoiding the golfers rotund missiles’ Waylaying a golf buggy, with staff aboard who turned out to be most accommodating, we sought an answer to our predicament.

On sound advice we awaited our chance and headed rapidly to a track on the far side next to the railway line. From here on with Aberdyfi in sight we concluded today’s outing and found ourselves an ‘eatery’ (‘Medina’) with good food, atmosphere and amusing signage.
