Oxwich to Port Eynon
This is my penultimate walk of 2022 as I have been dropped off at Oxwich by ‘Forever Friend’ who’s now heading to Port Eynon. Its good looking back on last week’s efforts as I step into a lane with a view of the beach as I look for the coast path sign.

It’s a climb up the escarpment passing an old church. It takes me 5 climbs and 4 rests to get me to the top. Its late autumn the ground is greasy with wet mashed leaves so I am stepping more slowly than usual. Climbing down briefly to Oxwich point , helped by a thoughtfully place rope I get very good views of the coast that I meandered last week.

Having climbed the few yards pack onto the path I am walking through beautiful woodland and the path drops down again as I wonder if there will be another ‘4 stopper’ to climb. After my descent I am greeted with a lovely flat shoreline extending as far as I can see. Much relief. The gower peninsular is an ‘AONB’ Area Of Oustanding NationaL Beauty’ and although the shore line immediately before me is not spectacular the cliff face to my right is.

Its a beautiful day, the breeze is ‘healthy’ as ‘breakers’ come ashore. Port Eynon is in view and I am probably half way ?

Once I am close to Port Eynon I come across this bonfire just before I turn left onto the beach. The locals obviously take ‘Guy Fawkes’ seriously.

I exit the beach and finish my walk by the R.L.N.I. post. Forever Friend fancies the ‘Chippy’. Munching away I just have to steal a couple as some ‘quality control’ is required 🙂 Time to drive home after a beautiful, warm, and very pleasurable walk.
