Unusual Lodgings

It gets a little muddled at this point as I am not supposed to be walking the coast per-se but me and Forever Friend are taking a break in Llandudno. Our accommodation is on the Great Orme.

Forever Friend is keen to complete some coastline with me and to boot we are staying in an unusual accommodation ! The ‘Lamp Room’ of the lighthouse no longer has a lamp, but instead me and Forever Friend ! The view is spectacular !

Late October and 75% success rate for the weather with 3 dry days and one wet one. We walked 3 and sheltered one.

Day 1

It is a gloriously sunny day as we set off down the west side of the Orme. There is a very gentle ascent from the Lighthouse before we descend toward Llandudno. At the highest point looking NW a view of Puffin Island is outstanding.

There are several Kashmiri goats (Origin India) and one decides to pose for the camera. As we descend the west side its obvious that the military have been here in the past. Apparently WWII bombers came within range of the on-shore guns as they headed on bombing raids to Liverpool. There are information boards regarding the ‘Artillery School’

Its early and its peaceful as we head south to the outskirts of Llandudno and continue along the Western shoreline for the next few miles until we reach Conwy. As we approach Conwy the castle at last becomes clear in the haze and Tregannwy marina as well as tidal sculptiring catch my eye. Its a long walk for us so a coffee break and a sit down is required. Opposite our seat is a reminder of how lucky we are !

A further reminder of sacrifices made! Its 80 years since the D-Day Landings. Forever Friend a keen knitter and Crotcheter will be diverting my attention on Wednesday to a local church in Llandudno where there are 60+ displays ALL KNITTED depicting the run-up and action on D-Day 80 years ago.

In the same vein at Conwy Castle Walls there is a remembrance theme.

4 weary legs trundle to a bus stop for a ride back to Llandudno, an eatery and Taxi back to base. A little extra unexpected walking with Forever Friend.

£50.00 is worth approximately £8,144.00 or £8.1k in today’s money !
