Conwy Castle to Penmaenmawr

The Conwy looks glorious on this sunny morning Tuesday 8th April 2025. I am heading out on walk 3 of my week for Penmaenmawr approximately 5 miles away to my west.

On the quayside outside the Harbourmaster’s office is this stone Sculpture which I like; however there is no information I could see to say why or what its reason is for being ?

I take a few more pictures for my ‘Solace For The Soul’ Diary and move on around the town’s walls until I am alongside the waterway and starting a slow anticlockwise circle toward the Marina.

A little further and I am standing on a launching platform and looking up and down the conwy. A glorious sight.

Curving around the coast further I am atop sand dunes looking left at the Golfers and right at the beach. The Dunes are hard going so I descend to the beach and cross it until I have to climb onto the ‘Expressway’ to make further progress.

Heading across the beach to a very noisy & busy ‘Expressway

I am soon alongside the traffic roaring in / out of the tunnels and its OK but not thrilling. Walking around the hillside means walking over raised metal footbridges which allow you to not only see the tunnels but crosses over the expressway and railway line.

Walking around the hillside the path descends gradually toward Penmaenmawr which is ‘a way’ yet

On the hillside in front of me there is a huge ‘bowl’ shape and I am wondering if its an ice age ‘corrie’ or a modern day ‘quarry’ 🙂

The dust cloud suggests the latter.

I am past the village which is above me and to the left, as is; the ‘expressway’. Sea-Side there is a cafe, playground & beach huts as well as additional graffiti.

Nearing the end of today’s walk I look back at the beach as I approach my end point. On one of the many ‘groins’ I spot this piece of metal artwork.

After my ‘rest day’ looking around Anglesey a 5 ‘miles in the sunshine to Penmaenmawr was pleasant enough.
