Prestatyn to Kinmel Bay
Here I am at Barkby Beach just a little East of Prestatyn on a gloriously sunny 6 April 2025.

On the horizon is ‘Little Orme’ but that’s later this week 🙂
To my right out at sea there are numerous wind farms connected together and forwarding electricity at very high voltages ( I think around 32kV) to minimise transmission losses to the shore.

Its an easy flat long straight into the eastern edge of Rhyl and there is a lot of ‘sea defence’ works going on.

A couple of hours in I have passed through ‘Rhyl’ and heading for ‘Kinmel Bay’ and yet have to cross the ‘Clwyd’. The ‘Dragon Bridge’ affords a crossing point and can be raised for seaborne traffic.

Taking a sharp right to cross the river and onto the forefront of the ‘Harbourmaster Cafe’ – Serves a great ‘Flat White’

Whilst sat in the sunshine I watched the ”world go by’ and the traffic over the road bridge.
Walking onward toward my original destination of Kinmel Bay I see yet more sea defence work and an old advertising poster.

I have reached Kinmel Bay where the car is but I have the opportunity to go further as the ‘family taxi’ has offered to pick me up from ‘wherever’
I continue an extra couple of miles passing along beside a huge ‘holiday park. Its day one. I don’t want to overdo it. I spot a railway crossing in the centre of the park and cross there. Its quite a long walk to get off site, to a bus stop and reach the car. No Taxi Required, thank you 🙂
Half an hour through the lanes to Abergele and a bed for the night.
