St Clears to Laugharne
Me & Walking Buddy have parked at St Clears and are navigating into the high street heading for the river. Its a beautiful sunny day and I got it off to a brilliant start by forgetting my boots. After some thought and considering how wet the ground is after all the March rain, I’ve decide to go home and get them ! Walking buddy is calm but not impressed and I understand that. There is a first for everything and we have done a few walks together now including a large section of the Thames. All that aside we are walking roadside out of St Clears. Not Spectacular and about to cross the river.

Yes its a walk along fields and pathways close to the roads, but that’s just the way it is. Fortunately Walking Buddy & Me have a great friendship and the miles go by easily with chat and banter plus the usual bit of boredom ‘Gurning’

Lunch in a field sat on a log , post lunch ‘Gurning’ and we’re off. We see occasional glimpses of the river and meet a couple who are just as impressed as we are with ‘Coastal’ walking ๐
We have come alongside the river and there is a magnificent old tree contrasted by a rusty old motorbike in the corner of a field we are exiting.

A bit of reminiscing and shared history and the lovely weather is enough to keep the mood bouyant.
We turn a corner into a stony surfaced; stream ridden lane. We meet an elderly couple. Are we there yet? Walking buddy being ever observant comments after we have chatted, that the lady’s footwear doesn’t appear to be sturdy or quite suitable for their circular walk out of Laugharne, bearing in mind the state of the lane we are in ! Later ‘WB’ is surprised to see them back at Laugharne. All is well ๐ In the meantime further down the lane we see that someone is well prepared for their winter fireside !

We are approaching Laugharne and meet a senior couple. They have walked out of Laugharne and have two rescue dogs which they have named ‘Hope’ and ‘Joy’. We both think is indicative of the nice people we are having a conservation with. After this meeting we have started to climb into woodland bordering Laugharne estuary and I am certain when we round the corner we will be in Laugharne Outskirts,

The end of the walk is spectacular with the breadth and reach of Laugharne Estuary before us. We descend through the streets out of the woods and are ready for another outing tomorrow.
