Carmarthen to Llansteffan

Its time to do some more walking with my buddy ‘Miss ‘M’ from where we left off last year at Carmarthen after 4; walks which took us from Llanelli (North Dock) to Carmarthen heading West. Its now our intention to do 4 more heading West and today’s venture will take us from Carmarthen to Llansteffan. We had finished in the surroundings of ‘Dunelm’ and now we are under the road crossing town toward the railway station.

Here we cross the station’s car park and come onto a footbridge crossing the river and leading us into the start of our walk proper.

On the footbridge , leaving the station and looking upstream to the ‘old’ road crossing. We cross a footbridge take a ‘left’ beside the traffic and head down stream. At the moment we are close too the water.

As we walk under this bridge its not long before its a distant memory as the path takes us gradually away from the riverside and across fields where we see a farmer pumping his slurry into a field across the road from the source at his farm. Ingeniously he has lifted the pipe with one of his tractors, forming a bridge for the traffic.

Miss ‘M’ and I are intrigued ๐Ÿ™‚

Today is the 1st ‘serious’ walk I’ve done this year and at the end of the 9 or so miles I am tired and ready to stop. Unfortunately I don’t do the second of our 4 planned walks tomorrow as I am not ready so to do ๐Ÿ™ Today though is like most of the estuary walking glimpses of the river , fields and more fields till we descend to Llansteffan. On the way a very plesant change of scenery in this woodland.

We sit on a bench next to an ancient looking church that somehow doesn’t seem to be used as such anymore ! We assume this from construction going on , a fenced of hot tub and a white van parked outside which seems to be attracting the insects thriving in the near vicinity.

Much to our amazement the owner appeared and me being cheeky ascertained as much. Off we went for an hour’s tour of what they were doing to it. Amazed and Grateful ๐Ÿ™‚

We chatted to various people as we approached Llansteffan, including an elderly couple doing a circular walk and two gents from Anglesea going in the opposite direction. It seems I am the only person who goes clockwise !! Logical to me anyway.

We reached Llansteffan with Miss ‘M’ ready to do another 10 or so ๐Ÿ™‚

I was bushed. A pleasant day with walking buddy and a laugh, but scenery wise a little average.
