Porthcawl Point to Kenfig
Bit of a tortuous plan today as I park at the Nature reserve at Kenfig which is as close as I can get to the coast path but still 1.5 Miles away. Getting to a bus thats nearly 2 miles away to reach Porthcawl Point which is Today’s start. Thanks to a young man going to work early we spoke and he directed me across fiels considerably shortening my walk to catch the bus for Porthcawl – Thanks 🙂
I am walking to the path and see a busy Porthcawl marina. I get an early coffee and survey the activity around the harbour. quite a lot of re-construction is taking place,

Amid the carnage of building and scaffolding I spot a tower and a gent speaks to me. We chat and before you know it I am being introduced to his colleague in the tower which is The National Coast Watch Centre at Porthcawl. A most enjoyable and lively conversation was had , some of which regarded the sheer quantity of people being rescued by the RNLI at Ogmore – Last week’s destination. Enough said but the fact that one lifeguard was in tears after the sheer amount of lifesaving she had to do, tells its own story.

Leaving NCW behind I find myself walking on a planked coast path and being waved to by a Marathon runner I chatted to last week. Also I am in danger.

Easy walking this lovely flat wooden path and chatting to a lady who wants to go back to Cornwall but with a husband that wants to stay in Wales. oh! oh!

I turn off here to get back to Kenfig nature reserve after a pleasant walk some intersting conversations and a warm sunny outing.

The walk to Kenfig nature reserve , where I’ve parked the car is lengthy and across sands so quite tiring. I meet a lady from the ‘Constabularly’ and we chat a moment or two. She certainly doesnt look old enough to be finishing but admiring her dogs and chatting away I hear she’s thinking of retiring next year.
