Ferryside to Carmarthen

Its late June and compared to yesterdays ‘squally’ walk we are in sunshine and good spirits as we leave Ferryside for Carmarthen. An older couple with three very ‘yappy’ dogs make us laugh commenting that it would be easier ‘to look after the grandchildren’

Our departure leaves us crossing the railway line by footbridge with a fine view of Llansteffan on the other side of the river.

Again , we are not particularly close to the river. The scenery is pretty enough and we are heading across fields some distance away.

We lunch in a field in the middle of ‘nowhere’

After a steady climb, Carmarthen and the extent of the river estuary is obvious.

We are a little disconcerted , walking through someone’s back lawn feels ‘unatural’ but sure enough the path led us that way. It felt much better to be out the other side and heading onwards.

We are getting closer and descending toward the river when a local train passes. Passengers definitely get a closer view of the ‘Tefi’ than ramblers 🙂

Nine miles onwards and we reach Carmarthen. Miss ‘M’ has to go home now and so our four days together end until next year. Meanwhile I will try and join up Barry to Tenby as I try to ‘connect the dots’ as it were.
