Poppit Sands – St Dogmaels – Gwbert
There is some expectation today as I am due to complete Pembrokeshire which will be ; if you excuse the pun ? A milestone for me. Its Tuesday June 7th 2022 and “Forever Friend” has dropped me off at Poppit’s and driven on through Cardigan to Gwbert. Gwbert is a viewpoint on the other side of the sands a suitable distance from this side of the river for my walking capabilities.
Today I will complete the Pembrokeshire coast path which I regard as an achievement after Cancer and having A.F. I’m no spring chicken either am I ?
Memorial Bench just after leaving Poppit Sands heading for Cardigan.

After passing the end point of Pembrokeshire Coast Path I enter St Dogmaels and am on pavement. Its ordinary and you don’t really see the Abbey until your on the other side of the river. I cross into Cardigan in front of the castle and pause on the bridge to look downstream. Its a glorious day and after crossing and continuing onwards a better view of the Abbey is available; but obviously not close too. The pictures are in order as I continue walking to Gwbert and on the way pass through an active boat builders, witness abandoned boats on the North shore, speak with ‘John’ (a 20 minute conversation) a while, which worries “forever friend” because my satelite tracker shows me at a standstill.

I walk along the north side of the estuary and enter the outskirts of Gwbert climbing to the viewpoint which is the finish today. I am happy to have completed Pembrokeshire and to be heading North to further ‘adventures’.
