Its quite possible to get a Raspberry Pi, a large capacity ‘LiPo’ battery, a regulator and other bits and pieces into a ready made plastic Container which was timelapse ‘2’ and then move from that to timelapse 3. I have spent an inordinate amount of time ‘tinkering’

This box used a large capacity Lithium Polymer battery and stayed alive for 10 Hours. It was easy to use as its all there. Push a button to start the ‘pi’ and once latched let it run. I was naughty though and let it die of natural causes. [Bad for the LiPo] The daytime weather timelapse used this.

The desire to ‘catch’ nightlife, human or otherwise was the inspiration for timelapse 3. So we have 27 Infra-Red Led’s powered by a 6V Yuasa Battery. I have managed 24 Hours but its heavy on juice as I drive the 100mA capable LEDs pretty hard requiring 3 Yuasa’s to achive a full 24 Hours. Clunky but fun !

As a result of the heavy power consumption I ‘modded’ the box and triggered the Infra-Red array with an LDR. Having to drive the array only at night significantly improves its capabilities.

Above using ‘Timelapse Box 3’ I capture the sun moving across our garden and the moon’s descent at the end of daylight. {top left behind summerhouse}
