Shotton – Flint

It’s day 2 of my 5 walking adventures and having parked at the R.N.L.I station at Flint and bussed it back to Shotton; I have entered the coast path here.

As I walk from the R.N.L.I. station beside the castle and its another beautiful day I can’t resist the photographic opportunity of the estuary and the castle, especially as the castle has a steel walkway to its uppermost level.

So I have just shown today’s destination , however I am starting at Shotton today -Day 2 [Tuesday 4 March 25]

Having commented yesterday about the two paddle boarders and how dodgy I think the mud banks may be I happened upon Charles Kingsley’s poem ‘The Sands Of Dee’ this has childhood significance for me but I’m not getting into that!

Here is a photo of poem by said author – A salient reminder of how treacherous river banks and mud-flats can be. The Loughour comes to mind also.

Anyway I am back at Shotton walking Northward with the river to my right. Its only day 2 so as yet the view is still fairly narrow and straight with not a lot to show that’s different from yesterday ! After some road walking in between times I approach flint and at last the view is more coastal.

Finally a couple of more shots around the Castle and a very moving conversation with two strangers.

The ‘Conversation’

I was stooped over my rucksack getting out a 400mm Telephoto lens for my camera. A couple brush by and I excuse myself for being in the pathway.

I mention this because the ‘aura’ from said lady of the couple was something remarkable. I felt deeply an incredible ‘connection’; more so as the conversation ensued. The gentleman stood to one side a few feet away but within earshot.

Interest (always nice) was shown in my activities, this blog, my poetry, volunteering, motorbiking, altruism, expanding my output to ‘Instagram’ or even letting my Grandchildren pursue that path !

I do wonder and will from time to time about this meeting – The Class ?

The manners, speech, personal space and departure. Ummm ? ?
