Caswell Bay to Pennard

Caswell Bay in the early morning sun and there is a swimming group I speak to who are going for an early dip. Its a beautiful spot which is why there’s B great hotel right on the waterfront. The path is blocked by massive stones. We don’t want to spoil the Guests views do we ? So unless the tide is low and you can walk across the sand its tough ! You can go the non picturesque ‘long-way-round’ like Charlie Boardman and Ewan Mc Gregor

Destination today is ‘Foxhole’ right by Pennard. Its sunny and getting warmer as I climb out of Caswell Bay onto the top of the coast.

After walking some time; its not a race, I come upon upon a lovely beach and brother and sister are sharing a conversation. Unbeknown to me. It transpires that Its brother’s birthday and while the lady is quite chatty he is more reticent. I meet same lady unexpectedly during my following week’s walk.

To have a home here must be incredible I think. I believe I am at Pwll Du. Before getting to the beach the path took me behind the properties with the rear of the beach obscuring my view of the sands. I crossed a small wooden bridge over an amazingly clear stream with a pebble I could see on its bed with writing on it . I took a photo for my ‘Journal’.

It took me one stop for a ‘breather’ climbing upward through the woodland to see the same beach now some distance below.

The climb out of the woods was hard work and so was this. However; as always the views thereafter’ including Three Cliffs Bay’ and ‘Oxwich’ were fine reward.

Once on top again there was moorland to walk and farm houses, grazing animals and before I knew it I was at Pennard. After coffee and cake it was time to return home.
